The Power and Energy Systems group conducts research in areas including dynamics, stability and control of bulk power systems – current focus is on analysis of power system dynamics subject to time delays computational algebraic geometry based methods for voltage stability assessment and non-convex polynomial optimization robust control methods with FACTS controllers renewable energy (wind and photovoltaic (PV) ): areas of interest are grid integration of DFIG wind farms, time series analysis techniques for wind speed/wind power forecasting and optimal power conditioning strategies for PV integration.
