Five NDSU doctoral students have received doctoral dissertation fellowships from the NDSU Graduate School. The awards are designed to increase the completion rate of doctoral students and to encourage the submission of competitive proposals to external funding agencies.

The recipients and their advisers are Darci Block, advised by Kenton Rodgers, from the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology; Amber Koblitz, advised by Kevin McCaul, from the Department of Psychology; Shirui Wang, advised by Chao You, from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Jayati Banerjee, advised by Sanku Mallik, from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences; and Kathleen Bergseth, advised by Thomas McDonald, from the Department of Criminal Justice and Political Science.

David A. Wittrock, dean of the Graduate School, created the Graduate School Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship program in 2003. "This fellowship award allows the recipients to dedicate their time entirely to dissertation research," said Wittrock. "It enables the students to stay focused on their education, keeping them on the path that leads to earning their doctorate."
